Walking is the best exercise. Accordingly, a person must walk at least 10,000 steps a day to keep healthy. That would be 5.2 miles approximately, can you make it?   Hmmm i am trying and that is my goal everyday.

That is a great goal, crisipicada! :) Today I was a ditch digger. Our son-in-law rented a large bobcat with a power shovel on the front somewhat like a backhoe. He dug a hole to put a water holding tank in. Then he dug a huge hole at our house; it was misunderstanding, but now we have a root cellar. He thought I was going to put a pressure tank, hot water heater and pump in the hole, but I merely wanted him to dig a trench to the house so that I could dig under the house for the pressure tank, hot water heater, and pump. He was embarrassed and apolagetic, but it was fine with me because I will just put a roof over it, cover it with dirt and we will have a root cellar as well as an outside entrance to the underside of the house where I am going to put the pressure tank, hotwater heater, and pump. Any way I dug, leveling off the high places in the ditch, and dug in some hardpan, rocks, and gravel. The early part of the day I just about played my self out. I was very tired, so I came in, slept for 20 minutes or so, and went back out and dug the rest of the day. The ditch is finished. Tomorrow I will glue the pipes together for our house water. Then after I do some more digging we will have running water in our house. That will be a while because I need to buy a pressure tank, 80 gallons, move the hot water heater, and set it all up including the pump. Our daughter came over at 3 pm and helped me dig until she needed to milk our cow and bottle feed a couple of her baby goats. I told her that it was a good thing the ditch was finished because I was too tired to dig any more. Today I got lots of exercise and drank lots of water. That is great that you are going to walk that distance each day, and that should indeed keep you healthy. Health is very important! :)

There are so many benefits of walking and walking is a very good exercise in the morning. They can also cure some of the illnesses that my parents have. Whenever my parents are sick, they will just wait that the time would be on 3pm or 4pm in the afternoon and they will go to the basketball court [the basketball court doesn't have a cover so the heat of the sun goes directly to the floor. If they have "panuhot" they would just go there and walk in BARE FOOTED.. Can you imagine how hot is it?? :? :? But trust me.. that is a very very effective way to get well if you are having an air within your body["panuhot"].. All the unwanted air in your body will be vanished away due to the warmness of the cement floor that is in the basket ball court. My parents have used to do it and right after that, the next morning.. You can see in their face that the illness that they are suffering had vanished away because of it.. ;) ;)

That is a very interesting way to get rid of illnesses. I stayed out in the sun too much day before yesterday with just my undershirt and pants on, and I am a little sun burned now. Could be worse, but just a little sore. I got lots of exercise that day, actually too much, but I surivived. :)

Gaining health and staying sexy and fit is worthwhile. Our daughter was feeling sorry for me because I have had to haul so much water for the house over the last year and a half, and then she said, "Well, Dad, you will probably live longer because of all the exercising you are getting." I feel good about it for that reason. We have two reefer trailers with our things in them from moving. When we left for Stehekin we left all of our belongings in the house, and just move away. Various people lived in our house the ten years we were away. Most of our things that we had in Stehekin I got from the dump where I worked part of the time as a maintenance. They were very good things that other people didn't want any more. The only way to get to that place is with a boat or an airplane, so if someone there wants something new or different they just take wht they have to the dump. It stays there for any one in the valley to get, and after it is there without anyone wanting those things for a couple of weeks all those things are put on a barge, taken out of the valley, and disposed of. So we have a 40 foot reefer trailer with those things in it from Stehekin, and we have a 40 foot reefer trailer with those things in it that we left when we moved away, and our 44 by 28 foot home is full of things too. Every once in a while we think of something that we want to find that is in one of those reefer trailers, and so we go hunting. At first I felt frustrated thinking about having to find things, but then I got to thinking that it was a blessing to get some exercise moving boxes around. :) And then it is a good feeling when you find something you want and often times with sentimental value. When I left for Bible College after graduating from high school every thing I owned fit in one suitcase!!!! Now we have so much that we have to figure a way to sort through it and get rid of some things, and we do periodically. I am a collector, and my wife wants to get rid of things and we need to. But having things is fun too. I found a bed for one of our granddaughters that I brought from Stehekin, and she was tickled to death. Last night I just went out and found a comuter part from someth computers that I brought from StehekIn. I also discarded a number of them that had gone so obsolete that they were no longer of any value. One of them I paid a quite a bit of money for in 1982! :)

When i was in high school and college days, i used to haul water, too. There is not faucet but only manual. I use to haul water carrying two water tanks about 200 meters away from house. That's a lot of fun. :P

My great aunt and uncle who lived about two miles from us hauled water all their lives. They used a hand pump on a well. My brother now lives on that place and he has running water in the house. They put in a deep well with lots of water, but it is so bad only the animals can drink it. They still use the shallow well for drinking that has always been used. I have enjoyed hauling water. I have a quite a bit of work to do to get the running water in the house, so I am not sure how soon that will be, but we will shortly have a water faucet close to our house, and we can just carry a little water in the house as we need it rather than storing so much water in the house. It will be different when we get water in the house because we have been doing this for a year and a half.
