Trauma with a bird!

Postby Edwin » Thu Jun 30, 2011 10:56 pm

We have a Golden Crown Amazon, which is really a fun bird. He belongs to our grandkids, and when they came to stay with us they brought their animals, 2 dogs, one now deceased, which was very sad, and my big dog Scooby which really belongs to our 12 year old granddaughter, only the other family she is staying with will not let her have him, so we have him. It made her angry at first when anyone called him my dog, but now recently she told me that it is a partnership, and the dog belongs to both of us, so that is fun. He is a wonderful dog.

We have trimmed his beek and toe nails twice. I held him both times. This last time I had a more difficult time holding him as he was wrapping his claws around my fingers, and also biting at them. I wear gloves, so he was not hurting me. Because I didn't have a good hold on his wings he was flopping them which made the clipping more difficult, plus he was holding on to me with his claws. Carol ended up cutting his toe nails too short, and it hurt him. She did not mean to do that, and she felt really badly about it. At first he couldn't bare to stand on one foot because he hurt so badly. He fell a couple of times because of it. It traumatized him so badly that he stopped whistling, talking, and singing for about a week. He was very quiet, too quiet, and we were in mourning over it, but he is back to his usually self and we are really happy about that. He couldnt stand on his heated perch because of his pain, so we took it out, and when we did we damaged it partially because we were traumatized too! It was under warranty, so we have a new none now, but we will probably not hook it up until cooler weather comes.

He is so much fun. He says, Flower, which our daughter thinks someone called him at one time, Hi Wally, which is his name. He says hello if he hears the phone or sees you pick it up. If he sees you with a drinking glass he will make a girgling sound. He talks with a low voice sometimes like he is talking on the telephone. When doing that I have heard him say, "bring me the ladder." I have also heard him say, "that's a lie." I have heard him say a lot of other things that he non doubt has heard in the past and has in his brain. HE also whistles a tune/scale of notes giving more time to some notes than others, making a rythm. He also whistles like he is whistling at a girl. When we are eating if we don't give him a sample of what we are eating he will hollar until we give him a piece of something.

Talking about the word "BIRD". there is a saying that "BIRDS with the same feather flock together. :D :D

Your friends can tell you what kind of person you are if who are you with, who are your friends together, what you do on spare time. How you invest time when you are not doing anything.

Being a busy woman at work, I get stress all the time. I can hardly talk to my officemates especially when I am busy. Why busy? Everyday I meet people process their business and building permit, occupancy permit and other permits. Being Chief admin, one of the responsibility is personnel management and their individual leave and service records to update, receive and submit reports.

But we cannot deny the fact that our environment contribute a lot of what character we have. So choose wisely who you are with. What sharpens you is whom with you all the time.
Nothing can separate us from the love of God
