Question for site administrator

Was hoping it would be possible to fix the search function on jaderune? For example: if a guy is looking to met a filipina that likes to garden he could (if search were working) put garden in the search box and pull up all the filipinas on jaderune who expressed interest in gardening etc, etc. rather than having to go thru all 280+ pages of profiles looking for filipinas that liked to garden.

The short answer is "No".

The reason is that the google search boxes do not work anymore. The reason that they do not work go back to a former poster who was persistantly degrading all filipinas and the Philippines. As Moderator, I feel it is my responsibility to try to keep the posts civil, and when someone degrades a race of people and a nation through negative posts, then I might delete that post, or I might warn the poster. After numerous attempts to control the posts from this individual, and his persistant attitude, he was banned. He would then rejoin with a new username, email address and IP address. After his negative posts, he would be banned again. This happened about 15 times.

He threatened me personally, and also made threats against my daughter if I would not let him say whatever he wanted on this forum. He said that I would regret it if I continued to delete his posts and ban his new identities. He is a computer programmer, so he knows how to develop programs, and he developed a program that would continously click on the google ads on the jaderune.com webpages. This is a violation of google's policies, so google canceled the jaderune account. Therefore, although many google search boxes have yet to be deleted from the webpages, they do not function anymore. The search boxes are useless now.

Along with the loss of the google search boxes, the loss of revenue from the google account, averaging $135.00 per month, means the end of the bi-annual sweepstakes that many forum members enjoyed entering. It also means the remainder of those funds can no longer be donated to any of the orphans.

Some people in this world are just plain mean, and their actions result in a loss of benefits to many.

Bad business, sorry about that, would be nice to have search but glad to have what is available.

I am curious. How does the guy threaten your daughter ?

Threatened me and my family with physical and financial harm through one of his many aliases. I am single (divorced) with one daughter, so threatening my family is threatening my daughter.

No need to lose income.

I am not a programer but I was manager for web services in several large organizations. A website can be easily partitioned, for example JadeRune partitioned with all profiles in one partition or "bucket" and permissions to google search only that partition. Probably your web hosting service has someone could do that, like a 15 minute job but they would probably charge an hour time.

Just a thought.

yep, the "google search box" was a nice feature--- especially when used for searching in the profiles for specific words and common interests ....

i often made it a point to use the google boxes at jaderune to do my internet searches... as it was an easy way for an extremely thrifty, frugal man on a "fixed" retirement-income to make a small "donation" to the jaderune site

anyway, now i'm wondering if bigblastguy's suggestion in his dec.1st post would work (?)... and if not, why not? i'm also wondering if google's cancellation of jaderune's account can be appealed (?)--- especially considering the fact that the violation of google's policies was not done by anyone affiliated with jaderune.com...

I am working on some solution to the google search boxes, but since this website is a hobby, and I have to work whenever possible to earn a living, the 'fix' may be awhile in coming.

I still have about 20 pages of the lady's profiles to rebuild, along with any second page photos for those 200 ladies.

I also have numerous applications waiting for me to publish. It all takes time coz I answer many emails daily, and monitor the Forum.

Not complaining though............gives me something to keep me busy.
