You are welcome, Crisi! We are to bear each other's burdens, and be concerned about each other. Jesus wants us to live that way. How much nicer life is when we support each, help each other, and pray for each other. :D :D

Elohei Yaakov, hear my prayer,
And let my cry come to You.
Do not hide from Crisi's mother, Crisi, and her family in the day of their distress
Turn to them and speedily answer my prayer.
Eternal Elohei Yaakov, Source of healing,
Out of their distress I call upon You.
Help them sense Your presence
At this difficult time.
Grant them patience when the hours are heavy;
In hurt or disappointment give them courage.
Keep them trustful in Your love.
Give them strength for today, and hope for tomorrow.
To your loving hands I commit their spirit
When asleep and when awake. You are with them; they shall not fear.

Yes, Crisi, you and your Mom are in special need of prayer. We all need prayer, and from time to time we have times that we need special prayer for our needs. We are standing in the need of pray. "Not my brother, nor my sister, but it's me Oh Lord, Standin' in the need of prayer." We can bear each other's burdens by praying for each other! :D :D

Maybe Crisi feels what's on the air in the rest of the world. I found that many people devoted to God have similar thoughts in the same times of the year. Often it works unconsciously and in a variety of nuances. And it is not bound to one's specific religion.

blessing.jpg

Explanation: Bereshit (the first word on the top, which is also where they point at) means "In the beginning" (Genesis 1:1). Berakah (the second word on the top) means "blessing". They both begin with the letter B, which is also the beginning of the word Beit (home). So, let's take this new beginning, let's go all Home and receive God's blessing.
The context of this blessing is that the Jewish New Year just begun. So... might it be a blessed year for everybody, bring peace, love, healing, and everything we, little humans, need.

Let's begin... the blessing...
Or turning the words around: Let the blessing begin

I learn from Church, that the least blessing is material things. Sometimes, i cannot understand since without material things on earth, then I do believe that something is lacking. I then realize by and by that even you have everything, but i wont but peace, love, joy, contentment.

I do pray that whatever state I am, I should be content. I realize that peace within us, is given to us from the Ultimate. Love, is from Him because He is love. Joy, not happiness, is from Him too. What is happening in the world, is not as important as what is happening within us. There are times that the world seems to end and a lot of trouble, but still we have inner peace because He gives us. The world is out of peace but we have peace in us because He is the one who gives it. There are things that we need explanation, and sometimes we cannot fathom what it meant, but His word says, "our thoughts is not His thoughts..." To experience the love of God and His presence in our daily needs is the greatest life to live by.

How is your day today?

Crisi, so you pray for a constant "rebirth" in the Lord. That's a very high thing.

Blessing referred to material things? I always imagined a blessing as a light flowing to me from the Above. It is something directed to my heart, and when it reaches it, it fills and experiences a lot of feelings, such as joy, strength, etc. (all the good qualities that come from the Lord). So, it is like feeling His presence in me. It is a bit similar to what you described.

I think this must be a linguistic major difference with Latin countries. I often resort to linguistic analysis when I want to understand something.
So, in Italian, Spanish, Latin, French, and I think also Portugese, the words "blessing" and "curse" are actually a word composed of two other words. Their literal translation is "say good" and "say bad". So, when we talk about giving a blessing, we usually imagine somebody giving a good word. So, with God I imagine Him spending a good word for us, and the Holy Spirit coming out of His mouth while He is spending that word descends upon us and fills us with His presence. It's all about "emotion"... nothing material at all.

Now, in Hebrew the word Berakah (blessing) shares the first root letters with Bara (created, Genesis 1:1). So, it seems to imply that a blessing is a creation out of nothing, concerning something that did not previously exist. It does not address specifically material things, but it can be applied to them. But it can also be applied to fill anything where there is a void (a void in one's heart, and even a baby, who is also referred to as a blessing). There is no restriction on the type of blessing.

We need to renew our commitment everyday. To constantly submit to the will of God. To keep a pure heart in every days life. We must let His Holy Spirit to fill our hearts and mind and our whole being and to submit to His will. Because, we are still in the flesh and it is a daily battle to mortify the deeds of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and pride of life. The Christian is filled with the Spirit of God, and let not quench, so that He can work in us what He wanted us to do.

I completely agree about the necessity of being filled with the Spirit. However, I think it is a limitation that only Christians have to think that we need mortification or that we are eternal sinners. If we recognize that we need mortification, we are basically saying that God is very imperfect, since we are in His image. Thus, I see nothing in us as something unuseful or to be mortified. It is there for something. So, what it needs is just the "proper channeling/transformation/use", in order to serve our Creator.

We must serve Him with our whole being... every part of us has to find its proper dignity, status and role, and sing in tune with the other parts the lauds to Him. We have to keep our inner Temple always ready...

King James Version (KJV)
Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

1 John 2:15-17
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

This is what I have read in the Bible. That is why it needs to mortify our body because the body is about self or flesh. Even we are Christian, I experience many times that I tend to look on the earthy things and become selfish. Then, I need to evaluate myself and need the help of the ALmighty though His Holy Spirit.
