They have gone through Altoona, Pennsylvainia, and I have never heard of the place! I told them it was 2 p.m. here and I was having my lunch, mid day meal, and she said, "Oh, good, I was just thinking about having dinner," but what she actually means is supper because they are about 4 hours ahead of us, and yes, it is supper time there! :D :D :D :D

They are in Johnstown now. Don't you wonder how they got some of these names. They must have named that town after John! Maybe it should have been called John's Town, because we need to show ownership to John as the town belongs to him! Well they are moving right along at 110 miles per hour. I didn't know that trains in this country traveled that fast!    :D :D

They are now in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, waiting to get on the next train. I think on the way over they only changed in Chicago, unless they didn't have the other change because of missing their connection in Chicago, having to ride on a chartered bus to run to catch the train? Not sure. Anyway they are making progress! :D :D :D :D

Thanks for the updates. A long train ride can be so relaxing and interesting. Watching the scenery ranging from countryside to the backside of the industrial parts of cities and towns. Having a good book as a change from watching the passing world. It gives you time to think and contemplate.

This is giving me itchy feet again - time for another trip :)

You`re right Chas. There are few nicer ways to travel than train. I still miss being at sea though.

Yes, Chas and Smiley, Carol and our daughter are having a wonderful time seeing all the sights along the way. Carol did take some books along with her, but I doubt she is reading them much, unless at night not being able to see outside. The last place they went through was Stanely, North Dakota. Carol said that they expect to be in Spokane, Washington sometime tonight. They are going to rest a while, then I am going to go get them with the help of our youngest daughter and her daughter Thursday at 10 a.m. This is something Carol has wanted to do for over 30 years or more, so it is very nice that she is having a dream come true! :D :D :D :D

They are now in Williston, North Dakota! I have to get out of the house, and stop watching their progress or I will not get any work done, or I will have to work very hard to make up for this sitting here! I can't work only so hard, so I better get at it, and stop pretending that I have nothing to do! :D :D :D :D

Since I have been out working they have gone from Williston, North Dakota to Wolf Point, Montana, and the last they wrote they were in Glasgow, Montana! The conductor told them that because it was hotter than 90 degrees they had to slow the train from 90 miles per hour, down to 60 miles per hour! They are now in the Northwest, and because of hot temperatures and having to slow the train down to 60 miles per hour, they are running 2 hours late. They are actually almost home compared to where they came from! :D :D :D :D

They are now in Malta, Montana! That is a little town right straight north of Billings and Bozeman Montana. It is a little East of central Montana, so they are on their way. They would be coming almost 100 miles per hour, but with the heat the conductor told them they have had to slow the train to 60 miles per hour for the safety and mechanics of the train! :D :D :D :D

Well, they are in North Central Montana, Havre, Montana! They are ordering chicken dinner there! She said that they are progressing very slowly. I guess compared to 110 miles per hour that they have traveled, 60 miles per hour seems pretty slow, but it is hot! And yes it is hot here too, almost too hot for me to work, but work I must, and I will be okay. I have one hour and 15 minutes until doggie walking time! I hope they get a good drink of water before we start, and then I never push them, and the smaller dog, Rand, will lay in the ditch and rest along the way! He is smart!!!!
