What was your day like?

Postby Edwin » Mon Jun 28, 2010 6:52 pm

My wife, Carol, and our two identical twin daughters went on a spinning/knitting outing for a few days at Stehekin where we lived for 10 years. I and our granddaughters have been doing the chores while they were away. I got up a 6:30 a.m., and milked the Jersey cow and two goats. Then I ran water for the horses as their water trough was half full. I carried a five gallon bucket of water to a little stud pony that they have in a corale. I then fixed oatmeal for me and the big dog Scoobie. I then went back to the other other, our kids' house and did some calling making job contacts. I then came back to our house, and our granddaughters came fixed me a salmon and mayonaise sandwich as well as some chicken pop corn, which are chicken nuggets. I then slept in my chair for a few minutes, as I stay up late, and the yellow crown amazon doesn't want me to sleep after the sun comes up. His name is Wally. He can whistle tunes and say lots of words. Then I went out and gathered some tools that I need to build a porch on the front of a house. I came back in and played the piano for a while. In an hour and fifteen minutes it will be time to milk the cow and the two goats again. Then I will eat something either at the kids' house or my house. If I eat here it will be peanut butter, honey, and milk. Then I will walk the big dog and the smaller dogs will follow along. Everytime I make a trip out to the mailbox and back that is one-half mile, and I do it multiple times, so I probably walk about 5 miles with the dogs. The one that I walk on the leash stays in the back yard so it is a treat for him to get out and walk. He gets really excited when he knows we are going to walk. I take him to get the mail also which is just a half mile, but he knows we will walk more later. Then I play the piano, unless our granddaughter is going to bed, in which case I restrain myself from my desire to play. I usually get to bed at about midnight, and then the bird wakes me up too early in the morning. It will be nice to have my wife back here and our daughter. Our other twin will go back home probably tomorrow morning. That's my day today. :D :D :D :D

Mr. Edwin, you have a wonderful day yesterday. I am glad you enjoy your day.
This morning i do scrub the floor intead of walking. It feels good to sweat a lot in the morning.
I report for office and do my routine work. I updated all personnel profile such as service record, leave record, educational back ground. Today i have fire code fees collection and it must be deposited immediately to the bureau of treasury. After that i prepare reports about the month end collection for the whole month to be submitted to the provincial office and regional office. Next month we will be conducting lecture and seminars to all establishment, barangays and schools within area of responsibility regarding fire safety, fire drill, first aid, and rescue. In connection with that, today i have reviewed some of the lessons to teach. Not only that, contingency plan is being discussed among personnel in preparation for the upcoming heavy rain season. When i arrive at home, i do practice piano lesson for few minutes. It seems that i have little patience to learn now because it becomes so complicated to use both hands. But i will still try to study and learn. After that here i am writing my activity today. How about the others? How's your day today? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Very busy and productive, crisi! I understand what you are saying about the complications of both those hands on the piano keyboard. It feels very awkward sometimes, and patience is difficult, but it will pay off. Scrubbing is lots of exercise! :D :D :D :D :D

Yes, it does pay when you learn. I'm not all the way there yet, but it is fun now, and still challenging. :) :)

When I started I decided to keep going no matter how slow or how discouraging it seemed. :) :)

I think Carol will probably do laundry today. I go to town and build steps on the front of a house. I don't really know what I am doing, but I think I will figure it out.

Nice to have fun conversation, and you are so nice to your mom, and that is wonderful. I'm glad that you are enjoying your conversation here; it is fun. :D :D :D :D

I did manage to get those stair steps build on the front of that house in town. I got around fairly early and thought I was ready to go, but it took me quite a while to make sure I had everything I needed. I have some lumber underneath our house, so I thought I would look at it to see if there was anything I could use, well, there wasn't, but while putting the skirting back on I caught part of my index finger under the head of the screw and tightened it right up against the wall, then had to reverse the driver while my finger was attached to the wall, and back it off. I hurt a little but didn't injure me badly at all. It just looked like I broke blood vessels inside my finger which I probably did.

I swung by the building store with my pickup on the way into town to get the supplies I needed. I got three 2X6's 12 feet long, and an 8 foot pressure treated 2X6 that I ended up not needing as I changed my mind about the way I wanted to build the steps. Now I have a few more pieces of lumber to put under the house for future use.

It took me forever to cut the first stringer for the steps as there was a concrete lip that I had to notch out for and still keep the other angles correct. It turned out great, but just took me a long time. My daughter reminded me that if I had a contractor doing the work it would cost me a lot more money. It was just my time, and then I got the materials whole sale because of my son-in-law working at the building store, so I cheered myself up with that. I put angle braces under that treads, and where the steps/stringers attach to the porch, and it is now well built with a long day's labor put in.

Not long before I finished I was wratcheting lag screws to hold the angles when I slipped and cut that same finger that I pinned to the wall earlier in the day. I had trouble keeping blood off from the steps I was building after that, and I had no handkie to tie around the cut, which I usually carry, and I had no bandages. I managed to finish the job late and headed home eating my lunch while driving home. I didn't want to take the time from my job to eat. When I got home my granddaughter's and my big dog was waiting for his walk, so I walked him about the usually time, which was several miles. He really enjoys it, and so do I, as well as it being beneficial for both of us. My wife, Carol, and our daughter both said that I should have gone in for stitches, but I think it will be okay. My son-in-law who was a medic in the army cleaned the wound, poured peroxide over it, and put a butter fly bandage on it. After hurting it twice in one day it is pretty swollen and somewhat stiff, and I'm not sure I can play the piano with it now, but I will try later. It was already late when I got home, so it was later yet when I got to bed. Our bird doesn't want any of us to sleep in, so I slept a little while later sitting in my chair. That was my memorable day.

Today is Sunday here in the Philippines. I attend church give praise and worship to the Lord. I am also blessed about church message. During Sunday School it is all about attitude of Christian. I learn that we ought to obey God. An example is: Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. I am glad i am reminded about it. :) :) :)

I guess I was really tired because I didn't wake up until 9:15. I was up until after midnight calling in my unemployment because that is the time it works the best, so I do it just after nidnight each Saturday night or very early Sunday morning, like 12:05 a.m.

My older sister came over to our house a little after 1 p.m. I don't see her that often, and it was nice to see her and visit for a while. She is staying with my older brother and his wife for a few days, so I will get to see her more before she leaves as my brother is our closest neighbors living about two miles from us. She came to her graduating high school reunion. She graduated in 1951. I was a first grader and she was a senior in high school the year we rode the bus together. My brother rode the bus two years with me until I was a second grader. She was 4 feet ten inches tall in her prime, but I'm sure she is shorter than that now. My brother and I are six feet tall.

She heard me play the piano for the first time, and it was fun. I played Precious Memories, and The Church in the Wildwood. She was a really talented pianist, although I don't remember hearing her play much because I was too young. I know she played an accompiment for a soloist singing on the radio. She told us she used to play which I know to be true, but she has a shaking disease, so I don't know if she could play now. She liked my playing, and asked me how many lessons I had taken, and it was fun to play for her and visit with her. I told her I had taken a few lessons when I was in the second grade in school, and she told me that I was doing good.

We had a nice lunch for a 4th of July celebration, and our kids and grandkids ate with us. We ate hamburgers, I ate one, a lot of lettuce with some wild wolf berries they grows here. I drank some jello that didn't set up. We also ate some potato salad. Then we had a brownie and some icecream. I also prepared a Bible Study for whenever we can fit it in with the kids' schedule. Then I played the piano some more, and now I am ready to take the big Swiss Mountain Dog for his 5 mile walk which he dearly loves, and it is good for me too. :D :D :D :D

We went to town first think this morning, at a little after 7 a.m. Carol needed to have her blood checked for her doctor so that her doctor can understand what is going on with her diabetes and the medication that, that doctor is prescribing for her, to see if it is effective. Then we went to Walmart bought a bag of dog food, and some bananas and food to snack on early in the day. Carol couldn't eat from the evening before until she had her blood tested, and then she is really hungry after her blood testing.

We drove to the next town just 2 miles away, and I painted the porch floor, and the steps that I built as well as the surrounding concrete the same color that the trim was painted which was a very dark brown. I had dreams of not getting any paint on me, and I did pretty well with the porch floor, but when I got to the steps that I built I got paint on my hands, arms, and shirt. I was having to paint underneath, and on the back side, and I just couldn't keep the paint off from me.

After I finished painting we went to the Dairy Queen, and I got a banana split, which has a split banana, chocolate syrup, strawberries and strawberrie syrup, pineapples chuncks, icecream, and some kind of a whipped cream topping that I think is fake, and I don't like that part.

We came home, and I played the piano until I got sleepy, so I snoozed a little in my chair. Now the kids are watching a movie, and I am doing this. We will probably eat something before lone, and shortly after I will walk the big dog that is in the picture. He likes regular food better than dog food, and we cook some food for him, and then we brought him left overs from the Dairy Queen. We bought him a larger bright red collar, as his collar looks a little narrow, and he will no doubt like his new collar. Then I will take him for his late evening walk that he always looks forward to. We usually end up going 4 or 5 miles. After that it will probably be too late to play the piano as our granddaughter is usually going to bed at that time, so I will probably be here doing this. I think I heard a rumour that my younger sister is coming this evening, so who knows what this evening will be like. We are looking forward to a short trip, 3 & 1/2 hours or so this coming Monday to visit our other twin daughter for a few days, and that will be fun. :D :D
