Christmas In July

Who says that Christmas only comes once a year? With my hobby of playing through the church hymn/song books Christmas comes with every hymn book I play. I only play each hymn once, unless I get really inspired then I will play one more than once. The reason I play each hymn once has to do with several years ago when I was first learning, these hymns were mostly beyond my ability to play, and especially if one was very difficult, if I played it once I could move on to the next, and now I am still just playing each hymn once, so my ability has progressed, and I can play most of them, mostly like they are supposed to be played, and playing each hymn only once I get to the Christmas music section of the hymn book fairly quickly. It seemed like I just barely started the 1975 Baptist Hymn/Song book, and I am already past Christmas with the songs.

Then there are sayings we have. Have you ever heard someone say "Slow as Christmas?" Kind of a funny statement, but it means that it may take a year to do whatever, or some person is so slow it might take a year. My cellar digging is that way. I didn't get started last summer until past the middle of the summer, and I found it much harder going that I had imagined with the rocks imbedded in hard pan. I was doing fairly well with my progress until I started bleeding, and now it has been put on hold at least until I see the doctor this coming Wednesday to find out if it is safe for me to continue working hard. I was supposed to have seen the doctor 2 weeks earlier, but the car's fuel pump failed after we had driven about 8 miles, so we couldn't get there, which was a big disappointment, but the Lord knows and He has it all in His hand, and His timing, so it will be okay, and I am resting in that.

Here in our country we have Halloween which is controverial, and our kids have sworn off Halloween as they see it as being anti Christian. Well when I was growing up even our church had the kids from our Youth Group going out tricker treating, and we went everywhere and had loads of fun, but times were safer then. No one in our community at that time did anything mean to anyone else. Then the churches started having fun nights for kids on those nights to keep them safe. It used to be that the stores started promoting Christmas as soon as Halloween was past, but they used to wait until after Thanksgiving. When we were in the Philippines the middle of October of last year, Christmas was everywhere in the Malls. It was kind of fun actually seeing Christmas everywhere with it warm and no snow on the ground. Christmas music being played and the acting and the dancing was enjoyable.

Now Christmas is in July with the "Christmas in July Sweepstakes!" Merry Christmas and good luck to everyone!            :D :D :D :D :D :D

It seems so strange that with great anticipation you look forward to Christmas, then it arrives, you enjoy the important day, and then so quickly it is gone! I remember reading Christmas catalogs and dreaming when I was a little guy. I still like it when Christmas comes, and it is special and important. I enjoyed Christmas in the Mall of Asia in the last 2 weeks of October, 2010! :D
