Family in Distress

Postby chaychay644 » Wed Jul 29, 2009 3:41 am

Family is composed of father, mother & children and should stay in a place called home. Where family, usually shares their love, sharing, bonding etc.,to one another. It is also the best place where the parents inculcate good values to their siblings.

Nowadays we can say that the family is in distress. There are plenty of wife staying in their in-laws, wives beaten by their husbands, daughters being rape by their own alcoholic/drug user father and others were being rape by their grandfather. Such a horrible scene among growing children.

But, why these things are happening? Some of the people blame the entry of women to the workforce. While others blame the what so called early marriage, teen pregnancies, low moral breakdown, rampant tabloids, magazines and movies featuring sex.

With this regard, we can say that the parents play a vital role towards the behavior of their siblings. No matter how busy they are, they should have enough time for their family. Try to put into consideration the quality of time you have with them. Coz their success and their failure will determine what kind of parents you are to them.

An interesting view. I fully agree with the fourth paragraph on the responsibilities and influence of parents.

I wonder if crimes within the family are on the increase per head of population or is it just that they now get greater prominence in the general media that uses sensationalism to gain audience share. It creates subconcious fear and leads to overreaction.

Television I believe is a negative influence in that it is a passive entertainment and in many cases decreases communication and interaction within a family. It is easier to watch TV than play a board game. That said TV can be a great educator and I recall watching in awe Neil Armstrong's first steps on the moon.

My belief was that the institution of the family in the Philippines (and elsewhere in SE Asia), based purely on what I have read, is in better shape than in the West. This assumption is based on the fact that in the West the Welfare State has reduced the economic survival dependency within a family. I should add I am very pro the Welfare State and proud of what Bevin achieved in the UK. In the UK we might complain about our National Health Service, but I can be reasonably certain of getting free health care (dentistry excepted) whatever ails me and I will never starve.

So I am an optimist. I assume the people I meet are good unless they demonstrate otherwise. In most cases the 'Family' as an institution is working well, we are now just more aware of the few failures.

I agree with you regarding the negative influence of television in a family. Especially, with regards to the shaping of values of siblings. That is why parents should be careful enough in chosing the programs their kids watching. Coz there are alot of scenes in television that are not appropriate for young adults.

Guess what?
In case you did not know.
All that crap was happening years and years ago,
You just were not smart enough to know it!

We did not have phones, TV, newspapers, internet etc to get the info out to us.
Back in the old ages, even 50 miles was like an overseas trip, Too far for most ppl to go.
All the same things were happening but we were not getting the info.
Nowdays we get that info in minutes if not seconds. Big Big difference if us learning about what is going on around us, heck even across the pond.
Look how fast We in the USA, so far away from PHP, found out about Corazon farewell. Plus we also learned lots more about her case, cause of death, history, etc.

Like that gurl said, Totto we are not in Kansas anymore!

BTW it is raped not rape!

If my late father did not caution me or did not advise me many times, I do believe that I am astray. I do believe that constant communication and reminders of parents is important. My father reminded me how important to have education, to set aside emotions or having a bf while studying. He said, when I become stable and have work, and be mature, I can then decide right for myself, unlike teenagers what they are doing. Getting married in early age is not good, my father said. There are things to consider. He said, I must guard my heart. I should focus what is important now and not be distracted by the fashion of the world. I am thanful to my father. I see a lot of marriage early age that are having bad marriage, i do not want that.

That was good that your late father gave you that advise, Crisi. You are right about so many rushing into marriage, and afterwards having a bad marriage! That would not be worth it!

A Canadian citizen was killed in Surigao City on Monday. The victim's name is Harry Doyle, age 62 who resided at km.6, Barangay Bonifacio; a resident of 849 Uninon St. Fredericton, NB, Canada was shot around 4pm on Monday at the Palma Resort in Punta Bilar, Surigao City. He was at a beach resort attending a family picnic with his wife and son when he was shot with a yet undetermined short firearm. He received 5 shots to the body, While they were having the family picnic two men approached Harry one 5' 3'', medium build waring a black jacket and a black bonnet asking for either food or money. Harry pushed the man away and then got into a scuffle pushing him away; when he pulled out a weapon and open fire shooting Harry 5 times. the other man 5" 6"", medium build with his face covered by a black handkerchief and also waring a black jacket also fled the scene of the crime after the shooting. Harry received five wounds (1) shot to the right thigh, (1) on his upper right chest, (1) to the upper belly, and (2) on his left thigh. When the police arrived he was bathed in his on blood and had already expired. The shooting was witnessed by his wife, son and by over 30 witnesses who were at the beach. I do not believe his bodyguard was present during the time of the shooting The investigators found no slug or shell casings at the scene. Currently the police have no suspects. Harry Doyle was transferred to NILO Funeral Homes , Km. 6, Brgy. Luna, Surigao City awaiting a PNP Crime Laboratory autopsy. The PNP are presently conducting a continuous investigation for possible motive identification of the perpetrators.
Harry Doyle was a regular visitor to Cebu and even held a residence there, so there may be members of the forum who knew the man. He is survived by his wife Jane Doyle and their son.
