Frequent Travellers

I need some ideas here. When travelling international flights, what stuff that are not allowed for checking in? Can i take Durian even sealed in air tight plastic? Gosh got some relatives and friend who are durian freak. How about bulad? Driedfish? Spices that can be found in philippines only. Are spices okay? And one more, how about letson paksiw in air tight tupperware?
Answers are super duper appreciated. :)

It depends where you are going. Uncooked fruit and veg is often banned if there is the possibility of importing a crop disease. Look at the websites of the Government of the country you are visiting. The Department of Agriculture is worth looking at as well as the usual Customs website.

I guess dried fish would be fine as long as it is vacuum sealed. Don't forget pressure changes when flying and your airtight Tupperware lid may leak.

If you are bringing any smelly foods in and because of 'liquid' restrictions you put it in your checked in baggage. I don't know, but I wonder if it would make your luggage more attractive to the dogs used behind the scenes to sniff for drugs so you run the risk of your luggage being opened?

Spices should be fine.

Thanks Chas. Important for me are spices and dried fish. I can make letson paksiw even out from PI. I would not like to be embarrased so guess have to sacrifice some.

I belive, Red, that it will not allow you to carry durian fruit because of it foul odor. And also bulad. No matter how much you keep it in a tupperware, the smell will always go out. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Theres none smelly dried fish Danggit which is what im planning on taking and Katambak and lapu lapu. Just seal it properly. Some friends and relatives were able to do it though with no issues.

My Dad got me started to carrying pocket knives. Then they had such a big uproar about weapons in the schools here, that some teacher's aides told me I should stop carrying my pocket knife. Well, when I was no longer teaching school I went back to carrying my pocket knife. When I met my friends down over the hill here to go with them to the Philippines in 2010, my friend told me that I should not take my pocket knife, because he lost one that belonged to his Dad! They took it away from him in one of the airports, so I left it with Carol and our daughter. Then when we landed in Seoul, South Korea, they asked me if I had water in my small luggage I was carrying with me. I told them yes; they saw it on the xray. They wanted me to dump it, and I asked them if I could drink it right there, and they told me sure, so I drank it on the spot, then dumped the empty water bottle! :D :D :D :D
