Annual Christmas In July Sweepstakes

Postby jadegil6 » Sat Jun 22, 2013 8:56 am

The Sweepstakes this year will be for three prizes of 2000 pesos each, paid out on July 25, 2013 in Php by a Western Union money transfer.

Rules are:
(1) All posts on the forum will count as one entry.
(2) If you win and you are a filipina, then you will be paid the money.
(3) If you win and you are not a filipina, then the prize will be paid to the Philippine charity or citizen of your choice.
(4) Site Administrator (Michael) will keep track of the number of posts you make on the Forum between June 22 and July 24, 2013. Cut-off time will be at midnight, 7/24/13 at 12 PM Central Standard Time (US). Each 30 word (or more) post will be counted as one entry, and entered under your name. Drawing will be within 12 hours of cutoff time, and winners notified by email and by forum announcement at that time. Payment will be made ASAP.
(5) All posts will count as one entry. Multiple posts per day ARE allowed, so if you make ten posts in one day, then you will get ten entries for that day. Any post that is less than 30 words will not be counted, because you need to make a realistic contribution to the forum, and not just be writing a few meaningless, nonsensical words to earn an entry.
(6) Void where prohibited. (which has never been an issue previously)

I wonder if your ears were burning today. I was placing a large refrigeration compressor on a roof today when I realized June is almost gone. Then I wondered if the contest was going to run again, etc etc.
I hope that the sweepstakes give some of our newer members a little incentive to post more often.

Not really burning today, but a few weeks ago, some members were commenting about having one, but times are tough for me to give away money when I have very little income. Since I have made it like a tradition, I decided to go ahead and have one.

This is wonderful, Sir Michael! :D I can understand how you think and feel in changing circumstances as we get older. I have never been a rich person, but there were times in my life when I had more than at other times. I was self employed part of the time, and things did not go well for me on that. The years that I worked in the sawmill were the best because the wages were fairly good for the times, and I had lots of benefits. I quit to do something that didn't work out, but how do you know? I had rich experiences in life that I would not have had if I had stayed with the sawmill, including more education, a short lived public school teaching career, and the best time of our lives working and living in a National Park setting at the head of a lake necessitating a 55 mile boat ride to get to where we lived and worked. Life, in my opinion, is not meaured entirely in dollars and cents, although that helps!  :D

Hey, Red, is it prices or prizes? Now it looks like it is prizes! Thanks Red!

Yes, Red, I think you and I both opened up the prizes by the joking about the difference between the words price and prize! That was pretty funny, Red, and it did the job! Of course we didn't do it on purpose; we would never admit that anyway! Yes lets get this active, and may the best man or best woman win! I hope it will inspire people to become more active in the forum, because everyone has a chance, but they won't win unless they post!

Sweeptakes help increase more people to join. Would like to invite everyone to share their ideas and thoughts. It is a lot of fun to be here. Not only that, it helps people think and know what they are thinking. Don't you agree, guys?

Erwin, you are right, and the purpose of this sweepstakes give away is two fold, or maybe more, but I can think if two reasons. First of all, Sir Michael is a very generous person, and he is doing this out of the goodness of his heart to help less fortunate people in the Philippines, and that is the reason for the rule that the winnings must go to a filipina, or a charity in the Philippines. This site has had problems and lost revenue, so the winnings are comming right out of Sir Michael's pocket. The sweepstakes entries are also intended to encourage participation in the forum. I like to write, so I write anyway, but when the sweepstakes are running I write even more!
