Divorce does not exist in the Philippines. They use Annulement much the same as we use divorce, only it is much more difficult to get an annulement than a divorce. Often times it costs a lot of money as someone has to be paid off first. When if is difficult to get an annulement, often times they just move on and live with someone while still married. That can be dangerous, especially for a Westerner with a married filipina. The intent of no divorce is good, but sometimes it can cause difficulties. In this country divorce is relatively easy, but it can be costly in the division of properties, alimony, child support, and other costs. It is sad when it has to happen for whatever reason. :( :(
