Happy Birthday, Chas, and many more for you! I hope you have all the trips to the Philippines that you wish to make! I hope that for me as well. For me it is mostly hoping and long range planning. I may go with my friends again in one or two years when my friend retires. I hope an open invitation to go with them again, only this next time he will be retired, so he will not be locked into a 2 week period, and he told me I could stay as long as I want as they will be staying for several maybe 4 months when they go. I won't stay that long, but I may find my own flight over and back to try to get the tickets cheaper, who knows. Well, it is something to dream about anyway, and when I go I know that I will have more fun than a barrel of monkeys!

Thanks Edwin. It was a strange day yesterday. Fun at times, but tinged with sadness at news of a friend who lost his fight against Leukemia, an elderly relative has been given 48 hours at most after contracting pneumonia and finally a sad letter from my 97 year old godmother who tells me she is no longer enjoying life.

Plans for a visit to the Philippines are underway. If I can get a cheap flight I will be there in three months for a couple of weeks. I will travel by myself with no plans or wish to meet anybody. I want to explore round Sagay in Northern Negros as I missed a few steam engines on a previous visit and then go and have a look around Iloilo on Panay as I am told it is beautiful countryside with many waterfalls. I might make it to Boracay, but I doubt it as it holds little attraction. It really depends how the time goes. If I find a nice place I will linger there. Lots of research on the internet to be carried out :D

Yes, Chas, you are an adventurer! I know you enjoy trains, and especially the antique ones. My grandfather and great grandfather came west from the midwest states, like Kansas, working on the railroad. My great grandfather actually returned to Kansas where my grandfather was born, and then they came west again. I'm not sure which trip it was but my great grandfather started a blacksmith shop and a hardware store. About the time my grandfather was a young man, maybe 18 years old, was when he got married, my great grandfather and one of his older sons moved to Florida where my great uncle worked as a tug boat captain, where he drowned of the coast in an accident. They shut down the school and sent the school kids out looking for his body. Before that once they moved down there both my great grandfather and my great uncle married young women and lived beside each other. My great grandmother had died, and my great uncle's wife and he got divorced.

That is what I think about too, Chas, finding cheap, reasonable tickets, and then staying for a while. For now I am still dreaming, so it may be a while. My friends in a year or two will be returning to Negros Oriental to stay for several months. I probably won't stay as long as they do, but my friend told me I could stay as long as I want. I will probably look for the cheapest, most reasonable flight I can find, and then I will go on my own and connect with them once I get there, also come back on my own. That is what I am thinking now anyway. They tend to go and come when they want, and they pay whatever the flight is going for. Of course before they had no choice as my friend had to fit his trip into his 2 week's vacation, but once he retires he may shop for the most reasonable flight as well. Anyway that is what I would do. Of course he has more money than I do, and that makes a difference as well. Anyway, have fun! :D :D

lyrehc, we are also very happy to see you back! You are right, lyrehc, that wheln you have birthdays as a child it is a very happy occasion with presents, food/dinners, parties, and lots of fun. I have heard a number of older people complain that they didn't want to celebrate any more birthdays! There was a lady in our church who was the organist. A person younger than we are hung black baloons everywhere to celebrate here getting old as a joke on her. Guess how old she was? She was 50 years old, and she is now 91 years old. My, how does time fly! We were really young when that happened because she is about 30 years older than we are!

I don't like what I see when I look in the mirror, but it is okay because I feel wonderful!

Long Life and Peace

Postby crisipicada » Tue Feb 05, 2013 7:52 pm

Yesterday, February 5, was my sister Hazel's 40th birthday. We celebrate her birthday in their house at Dologon, Maramag, Bukidnon. Before we eat, Pastor Ben Damarillo of Mt. Musuan Baptist Church shared a passage from the Book of Proverbs 3:1-2. It is about how to have a long life and peace. It states that, in verse 1 of chapter 3, says, My son, forget not my law; but let your heart keep my commandments: 2For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to you. The secret of long life and peace is to take hid of the word of God. Forgetting not His law means to always keep His word, to live a life of obedience to what He says, and keep it at heart. The result is LONG LIFE, and PEACE.

I am thankful for that encouragement and I am happy to write it here and to share the blessing and the secret of LONG LIFE and PEACE.

It also applies to looking for a husband or wife. We must always go back to basics. Let the Word of God guide us and not our own knowledge and understanding so that we will not be into trouble. :D :D :D :D :D :D

The Pastor ask me how I am doing because it has been a long time that I did not attend in their church since I move back here in Valencia as home base where I work. I really miss fellowship with them, really. They miss me a lot and also the members. We had a great conversation with fellow Christian.
Nothing can separate us from the love of God

Happy Birthday, Crisi, for your sister, Hazel! I commented once a few years ago about how old this person was getting after their birthday, and they almost took offence until they realized that I was much older! Our identical twin daughter turned 42 years old last June! I don't mind them being that old, but it bothers me that they make me be as old as I am, but then what is age? It is a state of mind. They say you are only as old as you feel, or believe you are. I am "Young at heart," and I intend never to grow old. Well, I probably will, but I will delay that as long as possible. I don't completely like what I see when I look in the mirror, but I feel good, am healthy, strong, agile, and I am thankful for the blessings of the Lord!

Crisi, Proverbs 3: 1-2 is very true, and we do well to follow the commandments and advices given in God's word! Long life and peace are what we all want! Fellowship, being in God's presence, and having His touch on our lives is invaluable! :D :D
