This is a picture of the first chicken house I built out of blocks! The chickens and turkeys were a little cramped in a make shift house put together from a dog house. They didn't want to be dogs, so I built them their own house, and put the turkeys and chickens in it. They acted very happy with their new surroundings! :)

This is a side view of this house that I built. Notice the blocks turned sideways. That allowed sticks to be put through those holes for the roosts for the chickens. When the turkeys were in there they wouldn't use the roosts, only the chickens did. Pretty nice building for the chickens, huh? They love it! :)

This is a distance shot of the double chicken house after I added a room to it. We then moved the turkeys into the second room, and they are very happy there. They have come up in the world, but I think the chickens and the turkeys miss each other, as they liked being together, but they were getting too crowded! :)

You can see the front of the chicken house where there are two rooms, and each room has a wood pallet for the door. It looks kind of junky I know, but I used what we had, and it works, so why not, huh? The roof on one of the rooms is covered with wood pallets. They easily move to drop weeds for them down through the top! :)

This is a side view of the two room chicken house. I just left the blocks with holes in them, without stuffing rocks in them because the turkeys are large enough so that they can't get through those holes anyway. Pretty nice chicken house, huh? I found some scrap boards to put on top so that they would not fly out. On both rooms the top provides enough space for sunlight as well as giving them some shade. They like it! :)

As you can see the turkeys are very happy in their new room, and they have lots of room for the two of them. They are getting big fast, and that is the reason I got in and built the second room onto the house. It worked really well, and it is easy to take care of them with this setup! :)

Here is a picture of the chickens enjoying being the only ones in this room. This have given them more room than they need, but there is room to put more chickens in here if we want to do that. They are all very happy with their surroundings! :)

Thanks for the photos Edwin. It is all looking good with happy fowl in their new homes. I will return the complement when I have finished my work. I ache at the moment after spending the day laying bricks and paving slabs.

I think there was a film called 'Big Sky'. I do not know what it was about, but it seems an appropriate name for where you live. I certainly get a sense of 'big sky' from your photographs.
