Had It Ever Occured To You That You Might Be Wrong?

Postby crisipicada » Thu Aug 01, 2013 10:39 pm

My Readings for today is entitled "Changing Your Mind"

Acts 26:12-23

New King James Version (NKJV)
Paul Recounts His Conversion

12 “While thus occupied, as I journeyed to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, 13 at midday, O king, along the road I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those who journeyed with me. 14 And when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ 15 So I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. 16 But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you. 17 I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now[a] send you, 18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’
Paul’s Post-Conversion Life

19 “Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, 20 but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance. 21 For these reasons the Jews seized me in the temple and tried to kill me. 22 Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come— 23 that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.”

Has It Ever Occurred To You That You Might Be Wrong?
The title reminds us that our understanding of God and what He requires of us is sometimes twisted. Because our wrong beliefs lead to wrong behavior, we need to “repent” turn to God, and do works befitting repentance” (Acts 26:20).

The Greek word translated “repent” is metanoeo, which means “change your mind”. As Paul indicated, repentance does not mean just nodding in polite agreement with God, and continuing toward God – when we truly agree with Him about what is right – our behavior will follow. Like a car, we go in the direction we are pointed. So, when we truly turn our minds and hearts toward God, our actions change accordingly.
Instead of going happily along, assuming that our choices are right, we need to regularly stop and ask ourselves the above question “Has it ever occurred to you that you might be wrong?”. As Paul taught, it is only when we can be certain of being right with God.

We must acknowledge when we’re wrong,
Confessing it as sin,
If we would know God’s power to heal
And cleanse us from within.

Either we conform our desires to the truth or we conform the truth to our desires
Nothing can separate us from the love of God

This is an interesting question, Crisi. I thnk it is human nature to want to be right, even sometimes when we are not right. That is one of the reasons why many people end up in court. They think they are right, and someone having an opposing view thinks he/she is right also, and then a judge or jury has to decide who is right and who is wrong. Apostle Paul, Saul before his conversion, was very religious, very well educated, and very intelligent. He was above many of his own peers. He also thought he knew what God wanted, but he was completely wrong. He was killing Chirstians because he thougth they had a false religion when he was the one who had a false religion. It took an encourter with Jesus on the road to Damascus, for Saul to realize that he was wrong. When Jesus pointed out the error of his way, he allowed the Lord to competely turn his life around. After that other Jews were doing just what he had done trying to kill him.

In order for Jesus to save us, we have to realize that we are sinners, and we have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Then we have to repent, change directions in our walk in life, and allow God to do His work within us! :D :D

When it comes to counting numbers, 1+1=2, it could not be 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 and so on and so fort.

Also, 1/1= 1, it could not be 2 or 1/2 or 1/3.

From these two examples, we can see that there is only one right answer and there are many wrong answers.

Knowing that there is only one right answer and many wrong answers, are you in the right of what you believe?

a good topic crisi :)
people are sinners now a days some of us are not believing to our almighty God because of some reason either they busy working, no time to pray, still work, work, work, is important, but hey! give time to pray, believe, confess that we are sinners here. if we give time to others, friends, relatives, love ones why we dont spend a little time to God??? have you ask yourself? :(

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

There are lots of different religion in the world. According to my teacher in Philosophy, those religion are just having one aim, to connect to what we call "God". But the Bible says, "I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one cometh unto the Father but by me".
An intimate relationship w/ God must b our highest priority. When U hav right or poor relationship w/Him,out of that relationshp flows everything else in our life. Thus, your relationship to Him determines how you live your life. It all relates to that

yes indeed mm, we only aim to connect with God. no matter what religion you have,as long as you have faith, believe and trust with our almighty God. dont judge people how they praised to God or what religion they have. i honestly know some people judging other religion, i am a roman catholic and i respect every religion of other people.

Many Religion in the World, which is the true one?

Postby m&m » Fri Jul 25, 2014 12:15 am

There are so many different religion in the world. I for one, really wonder how people come up with different ideas and beliefs. We may say, it is because people have their own understanding and can choose what one to belief. The question is, what is the true one? Why there are diverse beliefs and people will be carried away from truth. And what is truth?

Again, Christianity has the answer to it base on the Bible. In Romans chapter 1, it says that when man new God they glorified him not as God but worshiped the creation more than the creator, therefore God gave them over to a reprobate mind. Reprobate, means means moral corrupt or undisciplined. People try to explain things out of their own knowledge, and seems true. And in the long run, leads to destruction. Then people gets confuse of what is truth. But we must remember that the author of confusion is the devil. He tries to do things, and going to and fro in the world just to deceive people and not come up with the truth.

A lot of men says, truth is relative, they hope truth is relative but we know that it is not for Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life and he is the beginning of all that is truth.

That is why when confronted with different beliefs, we must not be carried and not confuse. Let us strengthen our faith reading the Scripture daily. :D
