Age Difference

What do people think is culturally and practically a maximum acceptable age difference between married partners? Is there one? In this wonderful world we are thankfully all different and I recognise that what works for one couple may not work for others. At best any conclusions will be generalisations.

I was intrigued by one report of an older western man courting a much younger Filipina. The courtship lasted for more than two years during which he was interrogated (very nicely) by a formidable group of aunts about his intentions, prospects and virility. At no point was the significant age difference ever raised until one day he raised it. The aunts looked at him in amazement as to them it was not an issue. Where I currently live it would be an issue for some.

I think that my concern is that the age difference might cause the love to fade in 15 to 20 years time.

Lets say for arguments sake that I married a 28 year old Filipina. I am 53 giving an age difference of 25 years. No problems now, deeply in love and both are fit and active. What about when I am 70 and my lovely wife is 45. I would not be so active. Would this difference in energy irritate my wife. Would the love fade?

Maybe I just think too much and should just go with the flow

I have a couple of friends who are both married to Filipina ladies, many years younger than themselves, in fact one gentleman is 67 years old and his wife is 33 years old. Both couples still seem to be very happy and enjoying their lives, their Filipina wives look after them as if they were babies, and I am sure this will continue until they die. I am positive that both the ladies involved are trustworthy and honest, albeit they are being well looked after and will eventually own their respective family homes. I for one would have no hesitation in being with a younger women, it would most likely keep you
on your toes and make you feel much younger.

Well, for me age doesn't matter as long as you both love each other & you have pure intentions in your heart. Thats why, Chas..you don't have to worry about getting old while your lovely wife is still young, I am sure her love for you won't fade.

Age does not matter for me as long as we have love for each other and can communicate. I'm sure I can learn from a younger girls perspective and she can learn from my "older" wisdom.
