Today was my 65th birthday! My Dad died when he was my age, but I don't plan to die this year, the Lord willing. We never know. He died on my brother's birthday which was sad. Of course Dad couldn't help that!
I had a very nice birthday. I had oatmeal, raisins, hot chocolate for breakfast. I ate peanut butter, honey and drank milk for my dinner. I helped carry clothes over to our daughter's house that needed washing. Then I came back to play the piano, but our dog Rand wouldn't let me play it much. For some reason he is afraid today that we are going to leave him. He stayed right with me all day long. But I did play the piano some. Then I took Scooby and Rand for a hour and a half walk as usual. That is for their enjoyment and for my health!
Dianne, our daughter, selected snow to make snow icecream, avoiding the yellow kind! Then she and my wife, Carol, baked two peach pies, and boy were they good. I had carots, gravy, and potatoes for supper. Our kids came over to have peach pie and icecream with me to celebrate my birthday. It was fun!
I had a friend from New Zealand, who migrated to Canada, and attended Bible college at the same time I did, anyway he called me. He taught Asian kids in Vancouver, Canada, and then retired from teaching. I had a good talk with him, and told him about my Philippine trip, and he told me that he just got back from 6 weeks in Uganda helping to build a school.
My granddaughter from near Spokane was born on my birthday, and we celebrated last week, even though it was a few days early, because we were there. I got 3 jars of green olives for my birthday. Our daughter gave me 2 of them, not knowing that Carol was giving me one also. I love green olives and black olives. She is 18 years old today, and I am 65 years old.
Carol has a nephew who is 59 today also, and she called him to wish him a happy birthday. He had a stroke which changed his life, and he is lucky to be alive. He could play the piano all his adult life, but not any more without the use of his right arm. He gets his kicks out of going to the casino, and he told her that he only lost $10.00 gambling today, which I guess was a good day.
This has been a very happy day!
