What was your week like?

Postby Edwin » Mon Nov 15, 2010 4:46 pm

I started to write under "What was your day like," and then I realized what I was talking about was my last week, so here we go on this one.

At the beginning of our 2 weeks in the Philippines Al was sick with a cold. I thought to myself I am strong and healthy, and I am really sorry for poor Al. Then it struck! Towards the end of our 2nd week in the Philippines I came down with the same thing he had. After thinking about it I may have started getting that cold sickness before I ever left for the Philippines because people were sick with it at our kids' house. People in town were getting sick also, and Al lives not far, so he may have been getting what was going around here.

I didn't feel very well as we were returning home, and so I slept more than normal, and I decided I should not dig in my root cellar until I felt better. I have been feeling better for a number of days now, so I decided it was time to get back into that root cellar, so I spent a couple of hours or so digging. That was long enough to remember how hard that work is!

Last Wednesday we our daughter drove us into town to get our car where it was getting repaired from someone rear-ending me before we left for the Philippines. Her daughter was supposed to do some driving at the driving school but she forget her permit, so our daughter had to return home and get it, then return to town. We ate at KFC, spent a little time at Walmart, and then spent the rest of the time at the library before dropping our granddaughter off with friends who were going to see that she got to a Church Youth Retreat she was going to. I forgot my favorite book "Philippines" which is actually a description of every locality in Philippines with information on where to stay, where to eat, about transportation costs, and everything else you want/need to know going to the Philippines. I thought I could find something like that in the library, but they didn't have it.

We came back home and spent the next several days without that granddaughter. Then Sunday evening, last night, we went to pick her up. After that we drove to Omak, Washington, ate at KFC, and went grocery shopping. We were getting low on groceries, and now we have lots, but I am still eating peanut butter, honey, and drinking milk!

We got home past the kids bedtime, but Carol said that it is okay once in a while. One of our granddaughters didn't know we would be gone so late, so she had to do a science project that took her until 1 a.m., but she will survive this time. This morning we visited with our daughter a short time and I worked in the root cellar for a couple of hours. Now I am just finishing eating, and then it will be time to walk our big dog Scooby! I am eating late as Carol was over canning pickles with our daughter, Dianne.        :D :D :D :D

That sounds like a good week, Crisi, and I am glad your audit went well.

I was not looking forward to last week because of a final exam in nutrition, but I did really well, not like that test that I took before that, which I felt was a disaster, although I got a fair percentage, just a long ways below what I wanted. But this final went really well.

Last week I took my nutrition book every where I went and read out of it. I even read it on the bench in Walmart where people were getting their groceries checked out.

Then I did one music assigment at the beginning of the week, and the teacher said there was Part 2, so I looked for that all week. Then he wrote and said that he as having too much trouble getting Part 2 out, so guess what? The class is finished. He said that he had accomplished everything he hoped to in the class, and it turned out wonderful for me too, so I was happy enough with it.

We took our granddaughter in to have allergy tests as she is allergic to citric acid, but the testing person was not there, so we will take her back next Tuesday.

We took our granddaughter down for her SAT test, which a lot of the high school students take for their college entrance, and that is when I read my nutrition book in Walmart.

Our roads are so muddy and soft that it is almost impossible to drive on them late in the afternoon, so we have been trying not to go anywhere that we don't absolutely have to.

Now three times I have walked Scooby for 2 hours or more each time out on the county road, and that has worked great, and that is what I will be doing from now on. Our daughter finally told me that it will not upset her for me to make one trip out to the country road, do all my walking out there, and then make one trip back, so I am happy with that.

Yes, I am going to bed earlier lately as I am working really hard for the time, and I am getting really tired. It will not last forever though, so I will make it.

I hope Tommy Tom will help you! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I hope you will enjoy the weekend at your Mama's house! :D

I finished cleaning out the basement of the house. This is spring break week for the public education school kids, so Wednesday we drove over near Spokane to visit our kids here, and spend until Sunday. We are having lots of fun, and then we will head home with 3 turkeys, a big male, 2 original females, and they will be part of our daughter flock who lives there beside us. The our granddaughter will be back in school. All good things must come to an end sometime, or so they say anyway. :D :D :D :D

When I was in the Philippines with Al and Claire, Claire met with a group of her office mates. We had a very large table at an eating place in the Mall of Asia. It was fun to meet and eat with them. She worked with the tax collection people in Manila.

Sorry that you felt depressed on Sunday. Going somewhere far away would probably cheer you up. When I was in the Philippines I had no worries; then when I got home the reality of life came in upon me, and suddenly I had a lot of things to deal with; nothing bad, just this, and that, and the other. :D :D :D :D

About a week and a half ago I installed a kitchen sink faucet in a very difficult place to get at. I knew I was in a awkward position, and I knew I was reaching hard and straining, and that I couldn't lay my back on the floor because of a ledge under the sink, but I had no idea that I was hurting my back until later. Even then I didn't realize how badly I had hurt it. It was just a little uncomfortable until we went to go to church in Seattle, and then boy it hurt bad. I got to feeling better with ice and heat. I had my daughter drive the car to her home near Spokane while I rode along. Then the next morning when we started to drive to our home, I stopped and had the tires rotated. I sat in some soft chair that was not built very well. When I got back in the car I hurt so badly that I actually stopped the car, got out, and laid on the sidewalk to try to get some relief. After feeling a little better I had Carol, my wife, drive home, although she seldom drives, it was a desperate situation. During the night I finally felt a little better. The next day we took our granddaughter to her doctor's appointment, and I managed to do a little easy work at the house. I have since gotten back to walking my big dog Scooby for 2 hours 3 evenings, and I have gone down to work at the house, but I am careful not to over do myself. I am getting closer to being caught up with repair things at the house, so, this being Saturday, I am staying home, because also I need to haul water for our house, drinking, washing dishes, flushing toilets, showering and so on. I will have Carol help me carry the 5 gallon containers in the house, instead of doing it myself as I usually do. I am on the mend. My back felt good enough to allow me to sleep through the night, and that was a good feeling!
