The old school line of thinking was that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Which means that the better a woman can cook, the happier her man will be. So if a girl is trying to catch a guy....learn how to cook, and watch his tummy grow! hehe.

This is kind of funny because when we were in Stehekin our Post Master was so skinny we were all worried about him. He loved black beans, and still does. He was partially trying to be a vegetarian, because he thought it was better for him. This place is deep in the Cascade Mountains where you could only arrive with an airplane or a boat, so it was quite rugged and very remote. There were mountain trails everywhere, so he was always hiking to one place or the other miles away.

He married a filipina, after about 3 years and a number or trips to the Philippines. She has done too good a job of cooking because both of them have been gaining weight, and he is not happy about that at all! He told me that he thought part of the reason that he is gaining weight is that he has television reception, and he is tempted to just sit there on the couch and watch it too much. His filipina wife told him that his problem was that he was not controlling his mouth. She meant that he was eating too much, and that was pretty funny!

I have also heard that a sure sign of a happy young couple's successful marriage is the weight gain that happens to them!
