These are a few pics of some jeepneys in Cebu City. Jeepneys are the major means of transportation around th city. The last time I rode one was in December of 2010, and the price was 7 pesos, but I know that there has been at least one rate increase since then to raise it to 8 pesos.
I know that many of you see these everyday, but some of the vistors to the forum have never been to the Philippines, and others of us are infrequent visitors, and maybe these photos will help to bring back some memories of life in the busy city.

Most of the major cities I have been to have lots of jeepneys, but there are places that don't have many. Jeepneys were a rarity in Biliran, and also in Bohol. I don't know what your experiences are with jeepneys in the area of the Philippines that you have visited or live in, but I hope that you will share your experiences here with the rest of us.

That is very nice, Michael! And also to get a glimps of Cebu City! If it is okay I will post a few jeepney pictures from Manila also in the next couple of days.

I think each of these Jeepney pictures I took in Manila near City Gardens Hotels because that is where I took almost all of the Jeepney pictures. If you recognize another area of the city or even Dumaguete then I made a mistake here, but they would be most likey near City Gardens Hotels with a remote chance that they might be in another part of the city, and a lesser chance that they might be in Dumaguete!

Here are three more Jeepneys in Manila. I was impressed with the artwork and the way they had the chrome shiny. Most of them are also very colorful!

I enjoyed riding the jeepneys in the Philippines. I think they are a fairly economical way to travel. Most of the time that I rode the jeepneys were fairly crowded, but that didn't bother me at all. I was cautioned once to keep a better hold on my camera, which I did, and part of the time my friend's filipina wife kept it in her large purse for me. The ones that I rode made frequent and brief stops. Most of them the driver did all the business, like taking money and knowing when/where to stop. At least one jeepney that I rode in Dumaguete had a person hired who handled the business, and the driver just drove and took orders from him. He took the money and rode on the back bumper, slapping the top with his hand when it was time for the driver to stop and let off a passenger or pick one up. When I couldn't sleep because of my changing hours flying to the Philippines I would go down to the lobby of the hotel, and watch jeepneys drive by with people in them already at 1:30 or 2:00 a.m., I suppose going to work, or going who knows where. It was kind of interesting watching them go by, and wondering where they all were going. We had no bad experiences what so ever while riding jeepneys in the Philippines.

While in Cebu last year I saw plenty of Jeepnies with superheros painted on the side. Superman, Spiderman, and Batman just to name a few. I agree, they have them shiney and LOUD, lol. My favortie thing to do in Cebu was ride the jeepnie to who knows where and get lost for the day and try to find my way back to my dads place using only jeepnies. I never once had to get a taxi.

Going our house from city proper is motorcycle so seldom jeepney to ride to. But the fare is 40 pesos

Good to the places where there are jeepneys. I commute by single motorcycle during weekend. Last week I commute everyday and it was so hard. So hard because it is dangerous, rough road, dusty or lots of holes during rainy season.

I rode a jeepney from Naval, Biliran to Biliran, Biliran last December, and that was a distance of 30 km. The fare was 20 pesos.

That is true, the fare to ride in jeepneys or multicab is 8 peson within the city.

But going to the interior areas in the barrios through single motorcycle is 40 but two months ago the fare was 30. Some take advantage because during the night time the motorcycle charge 100-150 pesos.

In our place, jeepneys are seldom, but multicabs are anywhere. Going to Malaybalay, north of this city, or a distance of 31 kilometers, the multicabs charge 25-30 for students. Bus through bus aircon is 45-50 pesos or 35 for ordinary. Going to cagayan de oro or 118 kilometers ride by bus aircon is 175.

Since then, the oil price increase and the goods increase by 25%. So bad
