Thanks for this. I tend not to be the violent type and am certainly careful when a guest in another country. I work on the basis that in any trouble the local police will side with the locals. I am assuming the hotel reception will help and will guide me towards a guide (sorry, could not resist it ). On Negros, when searching for remains of sugar cane railways to photograph I hope to hire a knowledgeable driver for two or three days.
