Happy Birthdays

Postby Edwin » Fri Dec 23, 2011 11:40 am

Well, today is my wife Carol's Happy Birthday. She is 70 years old today. She is wondering how she got here this quickly! When you get that old a lot of your classmates, friends, and relatives are dying. She lost a step sister the last of October, and now her full biological brother is dying. It is sad but also it is part of life. A time to be born, and a time to die. The kids are having a birthday celebration for her at a local restaurant. They are going to have orderves and cake. It will be fun for her and for all of us. It is not only in the Philipines that birth certificates don't get done correctly, or at all, or that birth times get mixed up. Carol's real mother and her family said that she was born on December 22nd, and I believe that is the day she was born. After her Dad and Mom split up, her Dad's family decided that she was born on December 23rd, and that day is when she celebrated her birthday all these years, but she was actually born on December 22nd. Her old birth certificate said December 22nd, but it was stolen, and the newer one said December 23rd. Carol said, "well, I have celebrated on December 23rd all these years, so I will keep it on December 23rd!" :D :D :D :D

Well, Carol had a wonderful birthday celebration. After 70 years she deserves that. We had lots of family there, and many friends showed up. All 3 kids were there and many of the grandchildren. We had good that disappeared very quickly, and a cake that was much too rich, but it really tasted good. She got a lot of presents too which made her feel really good. :D :D :D :D

One of our granddaughters is here from Seattle, and has been for a fews days starting a few days before Christmas. She is returning on the Greyhound Bus in the morning. Her birthday is in a few days, so Carol had fancy scarf that is a circle, that she knitted a few years ago, and she gave that to her. We ate a egg plant dish, with lettuce salad, and it was good. We also ate ginger bread from a ginger bread house that the kids made a few days ago. We visited a little while then came home. She will leave very early in the morning. It was fun to visit with all of them. After coming home I played the piano, and Carol was on the internet, and now I am on the internet and eating my peanut butter, honey, and drinking my milk. I had a good walk with the dogs. The dog that was not on the leash came home for a while, and that made them worry about me, because I got a late start, and it was almost dark. So they came to check on me, but I was fine, and just finishing up my walk. I'm not sure whether the dog followed someone home, or whether he just decided to go home for a while. They thought he was there too long, and they were worried for my safety, which was nice of them.    :D :D
