Pancit Problems

Postby Chas » Fri May 21, 2010 4:34 pm

Does anybody have a good recipe for pancit.

I had a go at making it from a recipe I found on the web.

After soaking the noodles in warm water they all stuck together in a big ball and I then had to almost mash them into the other ingredients. I assume this in not normal. Any ideas what I did wrong here?

I marinaded the pork in soy sauce. Then when cooking the pork in the Wok I poured off the excess liquid as I did not want the pork fat. Not that there was much. Could I or should I have left the liquid?

Everybody ate what they were given, so it cannot have been too bad, but it could have been better.

Here is a picture of the end result:

When you make Pansit, see to it that the fire is low. First you saute the spices like garlic, onion, then sliced cube chicken or pork, and other ingredients, if it is already brownish, you add some water, add some salt or chicken cubes or magic sarap to make it tastety. Then add the pansit, when it is already cook add the vegetables like sliced cabbage, carrots, bagio beans, sweet peas (those are sliced very small) then add some pepper. Serve it.That is the simplest thing to cook pansit.

if you add white noodles in it which we call Bihon...then little bit repolyo, bits of carrots and chicken meat instead of pork, little slices of sayote...there you go the Pancit Bihon... :)

Thanks to all for your responses.

I used brown rice noodles. It was all I could get in our local supermarket. Umpteen different varieties made with wheat. I will look in our local health food shop.

Despistado - thanks - it was an 'allrecipes.com' recipe I used.

I will try again with chicken, I am still not quite sure how much liquid should be in the mixture when it is served.
